Name: Lakefield Homecoming
Date: August 7, 2020
Event Description:
Friday Morning August 7th
A guided bus tour supplied Hamilton Bus Lines will take us on a tour leaving the arena approximately 9am & traveling to Lakefield College School, Morton Health Centre, Lakefield Fire & Paramedic Hall, Lakefield Curling Club, Lakefield Legion & also to Savage Arms & SGS. We will not be able to enter the last two stops as they will be in full production however a rep. from the companies will come out to greet us & explain the meaning of each plant.

Friday Afternoon at 2pm
Heather Dummitt will be taking people on a Walking Tour of the Village & explain to them the different locations of businesses over the years & of course how the Village appears now. This tour should take about 2 hours
of a person’s time & is well worth it.

Friday late Afternoon & Evening
The Lakefield Legion will be having one of the Delicious Dinners that they serve our residents. This dinner is an exception because usually the Legion only serves them in the winter months however they have opened the doors in order to serve everyone in our Village for Home Coming.

Saturday morning August 8th
We start the day with our Side Walk Sale at 9am this sale is an event that no one will want to miss as the main street is closed to vehicle traffic thus allowing pedestrians to mingle & mix with all our friendly merchants. If one
is hungry the Fire Department will be grilling ham burgs in front of the IDA Drug Store & also on the lighter side you will be able to get fresh popped Pop Corn from the Village Lions Club.

Saturday Afternoon
If one gets a thirst while attending the Side Walk Sale you can always slip over to the Patio Bar at the Legion & enjoy some entertainment while refreshing your self - remember the Legion is only a hop skip & a jump away.
On your way to the Legion you may want to stop at our Cenothaph Park & visit the many displays & events taking place or just drop into one of our local pubs.

Saturday Evening
The Lakefield Village Lions will be bringing us the dance of all dances in our arena featuring the Ron Marenger Big Band with 17 members including one of our own Charlie Ridpath blowing on his sax. This band will have everyone
rocking with its repertoire of over 200 arrangements. The Village Lions will be serving refreshment along with finger foods & are so pleased to be able to bring this group to our Village as we celebrate Home Coming.

Sunday morning August 9th
We start with a Scavenger Hunt on our trail leaving the Marshland Centre at 9am & returning to the Marshland for a fantastic Pan Cake Breakfast being served to the entire pubic.

Sunday Morning

These Lions will be bringing cars into our village that will have us in awe, while visiting the car show the Lions will also have the barbecues going to feed the hungry.
